Ernst Fuchs (1930-2015) was an Austrian painter, draftsman, print maker, sculptor, architect, stage designer, composer, poet, singer and one of the founders of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism.
In 1972, he acquired the derelict Otto Wagner Villa in Hütteldorf, which he restored and transformed. The villa was inaugurated as the Ernst Fuchs Museum in 1988.
He was one of the leading figures in the Viennese School of Painting ”Fantastic realism.“
For him art was more than a way to creatively expressive oneself, it was an essential power of peace and liberation.

ORIGINAL ETCHINGS
An original fine art etching is not just a cheap mass produced print. The process is far more complicated and therefore valuable and collectible. In short, etching is a method for printing using a metal plate (traditionally copper) The plate is treated with various acids to achieve the image which is then inked. The plate is then pulled through a traditional printing press one print at a time. A limited edition etching is an original graphic created by the artist in a small print edition or run using that one plate. The process of printmaking requires a balance of creativity and skill using traditional techniques. It’s the amount of impressions ‘pulled’ from each ‘plate’ or stone that gives each print its scarcity. Because of the unique history of each item, collectible prints often appreciate in value over time due to their rarity and age.
This makes them an excellent investment!
