Alex Katz (1927-) is an American pop artist and is represented by numerous major galleries internationally. Katz achieved great public prominence in the 1980s. He is well known for his large paintings, whose bold simplicity and heightened colours are now seen as precursors to Pop Art. His work is held in the collections of over one hundred public institutions worldwide, including Museum of Modern Art, New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Tate Gallery, London and Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.

About Ateliers Mourlot
By the 1930’s in Paris, under Fernand Mourlot, the Ateliers Mourlot became the largest printer of lithographic posters and collaborated with highly recognized artists for more than half a century to produce original lithographic works. These artists included modern masters Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Fernand Léger, Jean Dubuffet, Henry Moore, and Le Corbusier.
In 1967, the Ateliers Mourlot moved from Paris to a studio on Bank Street, in New York City. Here, the printers worked with contemporary artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Francis Bacon, Roy Lichtenstein, Alexander Calder, Ellsworth Kelly, Alex Katz, and Claes Oldenburg. Although the Paris studio closed in 1999, the Mourlot legacy continues in New York City through Galerie Mourlot at 16 East 79th Street.

COLLECTING VINTAGE POSTERS
Vintage lithographic exhibition posters have become collectible works of art in their own right. They are highly collectible fine art prints as they are designed and created especially for the occasion. 20th century Artists were very aware that these creations had to reach the widest audiences and so spent a lot of their energy and time on their design and quality.

Please note that the photos do not do the Artwork justice, as it much nicer in real life! Please do not hesitate to mail me for more photos or descriptions as required. Also note that these Prints are Vintage and so they are not brand new. By their nature there may be signs of handling or in some cases slight foxing
